Grapefruit is widely used for weight loss because it has the ability to lower insulin lever – the hormone that assist the body cells in absorbing excess glucose. This means, you will be shading more pounds when the insulin level is decreased.
It is rich in water, with high vitamin C proportions. The vitamin C content of this citrus comes with strong antioxidant properties. It helps in protecting the body against inflammation, toxins, and also strengthening the immune system.
Grapefruit also lowers the risk of diabetes, and also reduces bad cholesterol level. It also contains fat- reducing enzyme that blocks the accumulation of excess fat in the body.
But you know, my detox water is never complete without one or two herbs. So, I tried something different using an aromatic herb known as curry leaves. Am sure you will love it.
Curry leaves are active natural detoxifyers that regularly cleanses and removes the harmful toxins in the liver. They also burn fat, and avoid the accumulation of fat that leads to weight gain.

So here is how to make detox water from these ingredients.
How to prepare grapefruit detox water
- 2 grapefruit (the pink variety, not the white ones)
- 2 handful of curry leaves
- 1/2 orange (optional)
- Ginger (optional)
What to do?
- Wash and slice the grapefruit into thin rings.
- Slice the washed curry leaves into small pieces.
- Place all ingredients in a jar and fill with water.
- Cover and allow the water to soak the flavor from the ingredients.
- (Allow to sit for hours or try overnight to allow both the flavor and nutrients to infuse in the water).
The flavor do not go immediately, so you can refill the jar with water ones the first water finishes. Do this until no more flavor is coming out again.
